MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — Testing for the COVID-19 Coronavirus skyrocketed between Monday and Tuesday, with over 12,000 new tests reported Tuesday.
Of those 12,099 tests, 495, or 3.9%, returned positive for COVID-19. That brings the positive case total to 32,556 since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, however 79% of those cases have recovered. There are 5,988 active cases of the virus in Wisconsin.
The state also reported nine new deaths, the first newly reported deaths in Wisconsin since Friday. They bring the death total to 805 since the start of the pandemic.
Hospitalized cases made up 11.2% of total cases. Right now, 254 people in the state are hospitalized, 69 of those are in intensive care.
