FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Fond du Lac County is expected to move into Phase 2 of its Safe Restart Plan amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Health officer Kim Mueller announced Monday that the county has seen a downward trend in the percentage of positive coronavirus tests over the past 14 days. The data is expected to be finalized and published on the county’s dashboard at 2 p.m. Once that happens, Mueller expects the county to move to the next phase of its plan.
The county’s plan defines Phase 2 as:
- Continue to follow WEDC and CDC Best Practice Guidelines.
- Limit capacity within non-essential businesses, bars, restaurants and organizations to 50%. Encourage masking for both staff and consumers.
- People age 65 or older and those who are medically vulnerable should continue to limit travel and remain at home as much as possible.
- Events held outdoors should allow for all people to maintain 6 feet physical distance (36 square feet per person) from others.
- Support online education/remote work options as able.
- If community members choose to gather socially, private indoor social gatherings should be limited to 50 people or less with physical distancing.
Phase 2 would remain in effect for 14 days to assess the impact of increased activity. Citizens can track progress on the county’s dashboard, which is updated every Monday at 2 p.m.
Fond du Lac County’s move comes as coronavirus infections statewide, along with the percentage of positive tests, have spiked in the past two weeks. Mueller said 19 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed over the weekend in Fond du Lac County.
