MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The number of daily coronavirus cases in Wisconsin nearly doubled from Monday to Tuesday, but so did the number of test results.
Health officials reported 601 new positive COVID-19 cases after 12,781 test results were gathered.
That’s compared to 315 additional positive cases reported Monday out of 5,927 test results.
The 601 new positive results accounts for 4.7% of Tuesday’s gathered results.
DHS also reported seven new deaths, bringing the state total to 784.
Since the start of the pandemic, Wisconsin has had 539,539 negative test results, 28,659 positive cases.
The DHS is reporting 22,587 COVID-19 patients, or 79%, have recovered and that there are 5,284 active cases, 224 more than Monday.
Wisconsin hospitals say they are caring for 242 patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19, five more than on Monday. Of those, 79 are in intensive care units, 11 less than on Monday. Another 169 people are awaiting their test results.
There are 1,253 ventilators in Wisconsin, with 288 in use.
Of the 11,412 hospital beds in Wisconsin, 2,536 are available.
