GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — One area car show organizer says they’re not going to be holding any meetings until further notice after a fatal Sunday afternoon crash.
Dylan Jamrosz is the President of GB After Hours Company, and he says Sunday’s triple-fatal accident occurred as Abdi Ahmed was leaving a nearby car show he had participated in. While Jamrosz’s organization didn’t put on that show, they made the move anyway.
“We decided that for the best interest in our relations with the city and the police, as well as the family of those involved, it was probably in our best interest and in the car community’s best interest to hold off,” said Jamrosz.
The accident on Sunday didn’t come at a surprise to Jamrosz, who told WTAQ that the behavior shown by Ahmed is indicative of a worrying trend in the car community.
“For some reason in the past couple of years we’ve noticed a lot of the [younger] people coming into the car community not having that basic respect,” Jamrosz said Monday. “It’s that lack of care that’s become the problem. Our group, specifically, we decided to hold off our meets until we can find a better plan to get rid of the the recklessness from our events.”
Jamrosz says there are ways for car enthusiasts to go fast without breaking the law and putting innocents in harm’s way.
“We are very lucky to have a drag strip within 20 miles of Green Bay, most people have to drive hundreds of miles to the nearest drag strip,” said Jamrosz. “And we have one in our backyard.”

Abdi Ahmed (BSCO)
GB After Hours partners with the Wisconsin International Raceway to host street drag racing events there.
Ahmed was reportedly traveling between 60 and 80 mph when the crash occurred. Witnesses say he never attempted to slow down.
The names of the three people killed have not been released.
Ahmed appeared in court Monday.
