MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin saw its most new coronavirus cases in nearly three weeks Wednesday as the percentage of positive tests also rose.
The state Department of Health Services reported 432 new cases, the most since June 4. There were 9,638 negative tests reported; the 4.3% rate of positive tests was nearly double Tuesday’s rate of 2.2%.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 25,763 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 487,803 negative tests.
DHS also reported seven new deaths, bringing the total to 757.
DHS considers 20,121 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus. That’s 78% of total cases.
On the state’s new activity dashboard, updated Wednesday afternoon, the entire state is listed as having an upward trajectory of COVID-19 activity, as is the entire Northeast region. In our area, Brown and Manitowoc counties are listed as having upward trajectories. Sheboygan County is one of only two in the state with downward trajectories.
There are 1,252 ventilators in Wisconsin hospitals, with 290 in use, three more than on Tuesday.
Of the 11,394 hospital beds in the state, 2,636 are available.
