GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Drivers in Green Bay can once again cross the Fox River on the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge after the city reopened the span a week earlier than planned.
The City of Green Bay’s Department of Public Works said the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge, which carries Dousman and Main streets over the Fox River, reopened to traffic Friday, Oct. 23, 2026.
The bridge had been closed since Monday, Oct. 12, with the closure originally scheduled to last through Friday, Oct. 30. The city said work moved ahead of schedule, allowing the bridge to reopen early.
While the bridge is open to vehicles, the city said intermittent sidewalk and bike lane closures are planned next week to finish a few remaining contract items. One sidewalk and bike lane will remain open at all times, and the city does not anticipate the closures will affect vehicular traffic.
The city said remaining work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
