GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Ebony Austin was sentenced to six years in prison, in the latest sentencing of a suspect in a Chicago-to-Green Bay drug ring.
Austin, 37, was previously convicted of seven counts, including delivery of fentanyl and amphetamine. She was also placed on extended supervision for four years at Friday’s hearing by Judge Timothy Hinkfuss, court records show.
Five search warrants were executed in Brown County in July 2024. A simultaneous search of a stash house in Chicago yielded 12 kilograms (26 pounds) of fentanyl, four kilograms (nine pounds) of cocaine, 748 grams (1.6 pounds) of meth, 460 grams (one pound) of heroin, 16 guns and some marijuana. Prosecutors have since said this case was Wisconsin’s first wiretap investigation for fentanyl and at least 47 people are facing charges.
Several other suspects have already been sentenced:
- Felton Currie, who police identified as the ringleader, was sentenced to 40 years in prison
- Cheri Austin was sentenced to 15 years in prison
- Michael Oliver was sentenced to 15 years in prison
- Jessica Wright was sentenced to 14 years on prison
Other cases are still pending:
- Kyla Sanache has a status conference Oct. 9
- James Grandberry is scheduled or trial Oct. 19
Grandberry also has an appeal pending, arguing his charges should be dismissed because he waited for more than a year to get an attorney and have a preliminary hearing — something typically required within 10 days.
