APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A public ceremony in Appleton will honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attack and the War on Terror the 25th anniversary of the attack.
“9/11: A Day to Remember” is being organized by the Scarlet Guard American Legion Color Guard and the Appleton American Legion Post 38. It is set for 5 p.m. Sept. 11 at Don Hawkins Field outside the Appleton American Legion Post 38, 3220 W. College Ave.
“We must never forget those who lost their lives on September 11 or those who gave their lives serving this country,” Jonathan Reid, Appleton American Legion Post 38 commander, said in a news release. “Everyone is invited to come together in unity for this ceremony.”
The program is scheduled to include speakers, music from the Appleton City Band, bell tolling, a wreath laying, a rifle salute and the playing of “Taps.”
