Drugs confiscated in the Oshkosh Correctional Institution.
OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two women from outside the Oshkosh area are facing allegations of trying to bring drugs and other contraband into the Oshkosh Correctional Institution during separate visits this summer, according to the Oshkosh Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Unit.
Investigators said they received information about contraband being introduced into the Oshkosh Correctional Institution at 1730 W. Snell Road and, working with institution staff, launched two separate investigations. Police said the efforts are part of an ongoing partnership aimed at stopping illegal drugs and other contraband from entering the facility, noting that introducing controlled substances into a correctional facility creates significant safety and security risks for staff and inmates.
On June 28, 2026, at about 1:30 p.m., investigators contacted a 42-year-old Cleveland, Ohio, woman inside the institution as she attempted to visit an inmate. Investigators said they found two small clear plastic bags concealed on her person containing tobacco and multiple oxycodone hydrochloride pills.
The woman was referred to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office for a charge of delivering articles to an inmate. Police said the 35-year-old male inmate she intended to visit was also referred to the district attorney’s office for party to the crime of delivering articles to an inmate.
On Aug. 18, 2026, at about 11:20 a.m., investigators contacted a 58-year-old Sturtevant woman inside the institution as she attempted to visit an inmate. Investigators transported her to a local hospital, where police said two balloons were recovered from her person containing multiple Suboxone sublingual strips.
Police said the woman was arrested and booked into the Winnebago County Jail on a charge of delivering articles to an inmate. The 30-year-old male inmate she intended to visit will be referred to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office for party to the crime of delivering articles to an inmate, investigators said.
The Oshkosh Police Department said it remains committed to protecting the community and supporting the safety and security of local correctional facilities, and that the Vice and Narcotics Unit will continue working with corrections partners to prevent attempts to introduce illegal drugs into correctional institutions.
