GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A youth basketball camp is raising money to support families impacted by the EF-3 tornado that hit the Fox Valley last week.
Sweat Equity Basketball, led by former Appleton West High School, University of Wisconsin and professional basketball player Brian Butch, held a free basketball camp on Thursday for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade.
While it didn’t cost anything to attend, Butch says voluntary donations reached $11,000. That money is going to the United Way to support families affected by the tornado.
About 250 kids attended the two-hour camp, according to Butch. He says the main goal is to give kids a sense of normalcy during a time of so much uncertainty.
