TOWN OF PIERCE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 21-year-old man from Melrose Park, Illinois died at Krohn’s Lake County Park in Kewaunee County.
Around 4:35 p.m., the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department learned of a possible drowning in the park. The caller said a man entered the water and had not come back out.
Multiple people at the scene attempted to help get the man’s body out, but couldn’t retrieve him from the water. The silt composition of the lake floor made it difficult to find and reach the victim.
The Door County Dive Team and underwater drone units from Brown County were requested and helped retrieve the body. After assistance was deployed, the body was recovered.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
Algoma Police and Algoma Fire and Rescue also assisted.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department.
