Edwin Martini
OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A familiar face on the UW-Oshkosh campus could soon lead UW-Eau Claire.
The Universities of Wisconsin announced four finalists for the role of chancellor at UW-Eau Claire. A Special Regent Committee selected them from a list of options identified by an 11 member Search and Screen Committee.
The finalists include:
- Edwin Martini – Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at UW-Oshkosh
- Matt Cecil – Interim Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at UW-Parkside
- Raj Dakshinamurthy – Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas
- Diana Rogers-Adkinson – Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Next week the candidates will participate in campus forums. The forums are designed to allow students, faculty, staff, and the community to interact directly with the candidates.
Martini’s forum is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15th. His feedback survey for the forum opens at 5 p.m. Tuesday and closes at 11:59 Wednesday.
Martini’s tenure at UW-Oshkosh has seen its fair share of ups and downs the last few years. He joined UWO in 2023. In that time UW-Oshkosh closed its Fox Cities and Fond du Lac campuses.
However, student retention on the main Oshkosh campus bounced back to 89.3% as of March 2025. During the pandemic it hit a low of 68%.
A 2025 survey of UWO alumni found many taking jobs in Northeast Wisconsin.
The “Oshkosh Infinity” comprehensive plan also took shape under Martini’s tenure.
After obtaining campus feedback, Acting Executive-in-Charge Chris Patton and the Special Regent Committee will interview the finalists. After that the committee will recommend one of them to the Board of Regents; the board must then approve or deny giving the candidate the chancellorship.
The next chancellor will be UW-Eau Claire’s 9th leader.
