OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Woodman’s is planning to redevelop the Outlet Shops at Oshkosh into a new store.
The City of Oshkosh says in part:
“Woodman’s has submitted initial plans, and City staff is currently reviewing them. At this stage, the plans are not final. Staff has been working with their team through key requirements such as parking, site access/driveway locations, stormwater, and other applicable zoning and design standards.”
Woodman’s purchased the site back in 2024 for $12 million. According to Woodman’s, the company has been interested in building a store in the area for a decade.
Woodman’s currently has two locations in Northeast Wisconsin. One in Grand Chute and one in Howard.
Tentative plans for the site include a 270,000 square foot store with a gas station.
Woodman’s says 2/3 of the storefronts within the outlet mall sit empty. Eddie Bauer filed for bankruptcy and is closing its outlet location.
Woodman’s says it plans to remove the entirety of the existing building under its plans. It was scheduled to meet with the Oshkosh Plan Commission on April 8th before delaying to revisit development issues.
One of those issues is timing. Woodman’s expects to begin construction on the new store between 2027 and 2028 at the earliest.
