GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A display in Green Bay is hoping to turn some heads through the month of April in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
On Wednesday, Willow Tree Cornerstone Child Advocacy Center staff planted pinwheels on the S. Monroe Ave. property to represent the children it helped so far in 2026.
The pinwheels are part of a nationwide initiative to bring awareness to child abuse prevention with each pinwheel planted representing a child helped this year due to allegations of sexual or physical abuse, neglect, or other forms of maltreatment.
Willow Tree program manager and child forensic interviewer, Kristie Sickel, said, “Our hopes is that our garden will serve as a visual reminder of the importance of individuals reaching out to those in need of the community. It really takes one supportive adult to help a child move forward from a traumatic event that they experienced.”
The display will remain up through the end of April.
