GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — No one was hurt after a semi truck blew a tire on I-41 and crashed into the construction barrier, bursting into flames.
Around 7:10 a.m. Monday, crews were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-41, just south of Highway 15 for a semi-truck that caught fire.
The driver was able to get out of the truck safely.
When crews first arrived, the tractor was fully engulfed with flames extending to into the trailer. Due to the amount of fire and the possible need for extra water supply, additional resources were requested.
The Grand Chute Fire Department used multiple handlines to bring the fire under control.
The northbound lanes remained closed for several hours after the crash to allow for fire suppression, overhaul operations and roadway cleanup.
Traffic was diverted around the incident using Wisconsin Avenue.
