OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A driver was arrested, suspected of driving impaired after crashing into a utility pole in Oshkosh, severely injuring one of his passengers.
Officers responded to the crash at Church Avenue and Division Street just after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was going north on Division Street from Church Avenue when it left the roadway and struck the pole. There were four occupants in the car.
A 29-year-old male passenger from Oshkosh was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries.
The driver, a 27-year-old man from Oshkosh, was taken into custody.
The Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit is assisting on scene. Division Street between Church Avenue and W Parkway Avenue is closed to traffic while officers continue the investigation. Drivers should avoid this area and use alternative routes.
