GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man from northwestern Wisconsin was arrested for trying to touch a teenage shopper.
Grand Chute police say the investigation began March 1 when officers were called to a store in the 4300 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue — the area of the Fox River Mall. A 17-year-old girl reported a man followed her closely and tried to touch her as she left a store. She was able to pull away, and the man left the area before officers arrived.
Police determined the same man was known to approach other female shoppers and ask for their phone numbers. Those incidents had not been previously reported to police. Officers tried to track down the man by reviewing video surveillance, following up with nearby stores, sharing images with partner agencies and checking local hotels.
Investigators got a break on Sunday morning, when an employee of another store reported the man was in that business. Police made contact with the man and arrested him. They are recommending he be charged with disorderly conduct and a probation violation.
The man, a 27-year-old from Siren, was on active probation for child enticement. Police did not release his name.
