GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Scheduled repairs on a water main in Green Bay are set to begin next week.
Green Bay Water will conduct planned maintenance on a water main from March 9 to March 23 near E. Mason Street and Main Street. Officials emphasized this work is part of a water utility project separate from the construction this stretch of E. Mason experienced last summer.
These repairs were “intentionally scheduled during winter months to align with lower seasonal water demand.”
According to the city, one lane of traffic will always remain open in each direction on E. Mason Street, and Main Street will be fully open. The primary traffic impact will be access to the BP gas station located at 2115 Main Street. During construction, BP will remain accessible from Main Street, but the BP driveways from E. Mason Street will be closed. No other business access will be restricted.
Work will take place in two phases. The first week includes excavation and repairs, and the second week consists of required concrete curing time. During the curing period, the work area may appear inactive while materials properly cure.
City officials say there are no planned water service interruptions associated with this maintenance work.
“This project is the final step in a series of planned large main repairs completed both inside and outside the city. Completing this work now helps prevent larger, more disruptive failures in the future. Green Bay Water appreciates the public’s patience as we complete this scheduled winter maintenance project safely and efficiently,” a news release states.
