OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Officials in Oshkosh say that one person is in custody following an alleged stabbing in Oshkosh early Saturday morning.
According to a release from the Oshkosh Police Department, they responded to the area of the 400 block of S. Koeller Street in Oshkosh at 6:40 Saturday morning for a ‘weapons’ call.
Officers were told that a 35-year-old man had been stabbed, and began giving medical treatment to the victim until the Oshkosh Fire Department arrived, according to the release. The man was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening.
Police say the immediate investigation led to identifying the suspect and the vehicle he fled in. Officials say with help from the Winnebago County Sheriffs, Neenah Police, and Wisconsin State Patrol, the car was found north of Oshkosh.
“After a brief pursuit, the operator/suspect was taken into custody. Custody of the suspect was transferred to the Oshkosh Police Department,” the release says.
Oshkosh Police say the suspect, a 41-year-old man from the Oshkosh area, was booked into the Winnebago County Jail for attempted first-degree intentional homicide and domestic disorderly conduct, with charges from other agencies pending.
“All parties involved in this incident are known to one another, and there is no further risk to the public,” the release says.
