GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The search for the new Green Bay Area Public School District superintendent is down to two candidates.
After a nationwide search, the school district announced its finalists Monday.
They are:
- Michael Hernandez, Appleton Area School District Assistant Superintendent
- Dr. Michael E. Trimberger Jr., School District of Random Lake Superintendent

Each candidate will have a “Day in the District” and families, students, staff and community members are invited to a “Meet & Greet.” Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions in writing and submit them to the moderator.
- Hernandez’s will be on Wednesday, Mar. 4 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the old library of West High School on Shawano Avenue
- Trimberger’s will be Thursday, Mar. 5 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the old library of West High School on Shawano Avenue
The district has been searching for a new superintendent since February 2024, when Claude Tiller resigned. Vicki Bayer stepped into the interim superintendent role before she was named superintendent in December 2024.
Bayer announced her retirement in October.
