(UW ATHLETICS) – The Wisconsin men’s basketball team looks for back-to-back wins as it heads out west for a road meeting at Oregon on Wednesday at Matthew Knight Arena.
Tipoff in Eugene is set for 10 p.m. CT.
The Badgers (19-8, 11-5 Big Ten) raced by Iowa, 84-71, on Sunday at the Kohl Center to get back in the win column. UW trailed by as many as nine-points in the first half, and 1 at intermission, before rallying to win. They improved to 5-7 when trailing at halftime this year. Bucky’s 84 points were the most a team has scored against Iowa this year, cracking the country’s 34th-ranked defense open. It was the 17th game UW has eclipsed 80 points, improving to 17-0 in those contests.
DUCK HUNTING
The Badgers and Ducks have met twice in the last three seasons, once in Madison and once in Eugene. They played their inaugural Big Ten meeting last year at the Kohl Center, with UW falling 77-73 in an overtime thriller. John Tonje dropped a team-high 22 points. Wisconsin topped Oregon at the Matthew Knight Arena two years prior in the NIT Semifinals, 61-58. Wednesday will be just the third time UW has played in Eugene, with the only other matchup coming on Nov. 24, 1990, in a 72-70 Badger win.
Oregon (10-17, 3-13 Big Ten) comes into Wednesday’s contest winning two of their last three games. The Ducks earned their first Quadrant I victory of the year on Saturday, scathing by USC, 71-70 in Los Angeles. Center Nate Bittle carries the offensive load for the Ducks, averaging 16.7 points and 7 rebounds per game. His frontcourt mate Kwame Evans Jr. has also seen strong success of late, augmenting his averages to 12.9 points and 7.2 boards.
WRAPPING UP THE ROAD TRIP
Wisconsin will close their annual west coast trip on Saturday against Washington. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT and 1 p.m. PT, and it’ll be UW’s first contest at Washington since 1955. Wisconsin Athletics will be hosting a pregame fan event in Seattle, starting at 10 a.m. PT at Shultzy’s. It’s a free event open to all Badger fans. Fans will be in charge of their own food and beverage, though select free giveaways will be available while supplies last. The event will conclude around noon PT so fans have time to walk over to the Alaska Airlines Arena for tipoff.
