RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh student from Neenah died in a skiing accident near Wausau.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office confirms Alexandra Blattner, 20, died Feb. 5. Emergency crews were called to the ski resort in Rib Mountain just before 7:30 p.m. Blattner died at the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates her neck was broken, sheriff’s officials said.
According to her obituary, Blattner was preparing to study nursing at UW-Oshkosh, with an emphasis on psychology. She was also a member of the Tri Sigma sorority and UW-Oshkosh’s student senate.
Her funeral was held last Thursday.
The fatality was the second at Granite Peak in less than a month, after the death of a man in January.
