(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – The Marquette women’s basketball team faces its stiffest test of the season, welcoming undefeated No. 1 UConn to the Al McGuire Center on Saturday. It will be just the third time ever that the Golden Eagles have hosted the No. 1 team in the country.
After putting together a season-long five-game winning streak, Marquette dropped its last two games to Creighton and Seton Hall. In both games, the Golden Eagles surrendered slim halftime leads after previously going 12-2 this year when leading at the half.
FLASHING BACK – GAME 25 VS SETON HALL
- Marquette dropped two regular-season games in the same season to Seton Hall for the first time in their series history.
- MU was outrebounded by 18, its third-largest differential this season.
- MU dropped to 4-8 on the year when outrebounded.
- The 18 second-half points were the fewest points in a half this season for the Golden Eagles.

HISTORY WITH THE UCONN
- Marquette and Seton Hall will meet for the 25th time in their history.

START ON THE FRONT FOOT
While some teams can start slow and pick up steam in games, Marquette has struggled a bit in doing that. Ten times this season, the Golden Eagles opponents’ haven’t scored first. MU is 2-8 in those games compared to 14-1 when scoring first.
- The tip has also been an indicator the Golden Eagles as they are 1-5 this season when losing the tipoff. At Butler on Jan. 25, Marquette won its first game of the year when losing the tip.
- Marquette has lost the tip and did not score first in each of its last two games, both losses.
