GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — More salt and wood pulp moved through the Port of Green Bay during the recently completed shipping season, compared to the previous year.
Port officials say salt volumes were up 9.74%, driven by winter needs across the area. Wood pulp shipments were up 145.7%, with port officials linking the increase to renewed demand from manufacturing and paper-related markets.
A total of 155 vessels moved 1,587,620 tons of cargo through the port. That was down from the 1,696,097 tons that moved through the port in 2024-25.
The port is holding its 2026 First Ship Contest, taking predictions of when the first ship will arrive during the upcoming season.
