(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – The Marquette University men’s basketball team (9-15, 4-9 BIG EAST) continues BIG EAST Conference play against Villanova (18-5, 9-3 BIG EAST) on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. CT at Finneran Pavilion. TNT/truTV features the television broadcast, with Brian Anderson (play-by-play), Grant Hill (analyst) and Andy Katz (reporter) calling the action. Following Tuesday’s outing, the Golden Eagles will wrap up a run of 6-of-9 league games on the road at Xavier on Saturday, Feb. 14.
Series With Wildcats Dates Back To 1960
Villanova holds a 29-20 advantage over Marquette in an all-time series that dates back to 1960.
Along with regular season and tournament matchups in league play, the two teams also squared off in the 1963 National Invitation Tournament and the 1980 NCAA Championship. Marquette downed the Wildcats 66-58 in the NIT, but fell 77-59 in the opening round of the NCAA’s in Providence, R.I.
The Wildcats have been ranked in the top-15 in 19 of the last 28 meetings against Marquette, including four matchups as the top-ranked team in the land.
The Wildcats claimed the first meeting this season at Fiserv Forum, holding on for a 76-73 win on Jan. 10, 2026. Villanova led by as many as nine points, but MU was able to close to within a single point in the final minute. Freshman guard Nigel James Jr. led all scorers with a then career-best 31 points.
