(247NEWSSOURCE) – The U.S. women’s hockey team is off to a winning start at the Milan Olympics.
Captain and former Wisconsin Badgers player Hilary Knight scored one of three second-period goals as Team USA cruised past Czechia 5-1 in their first preliminary round game.
Alex Carpenter opened the scoring in the first period, while Dunne, Knight and Hayley Scamura all lit the lamp in second.
Laila Edwards says they weathered their nerves and got the win.
Edwards says she is still soaking it all in after the big win.
The U.S. will face Finland in its next game on Saturday. Puck drop is set for 10:40 a.m. Eastern.
