33-year old Trevor Salewsky (Oconto County Jail)
MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The man who police say brought a loaded gun and knives to a school blood drive in Peshtigo Monday is expected to appear in court Friday after charges against him were filed.
Police don’t know why 33-year-old Trevor Salewsky of Menominee, Michigan, brought the gun and knives with him when he attended a blood drive at the school, but they credit the students who spoke up about it with averting a potential tragedy. He is also accused of attacking police officers after he escaped from his handcuffs.
Four felony counts and four misdemeanor counts were filed Friday morning against Salewsky. His felony counts are possessing a firearm on school grounds; resisting an officer and causing substantial bodily harm; attempting to disarm an officer; and battery to a person involved with a court or legal system. He is charged with two misdemeanor counts of possessing a dangerous weapon at school; one count of theft of property less than $2,500; and one count of disorderly conduct.
Because of statements Salewsky has made about authorities in Marinette County, he’s being held in the Oconto County Jail.
This story will be updated after Salewsky appears in court.
