OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Plans for a trackless train are on track at Menominee Park.
The Oshkosh Common Council gave the go-ahead for the project Tuesday night. Amending the park revenue facilities budget was its own agenda item for the council.
The council also approved operating the train during the Menominee Park Zoo’s operating season.
Not only is the train moving, so is the station. Registration will be by the Lakefly Cafe, with passenger loading at the zoo entrance.
The trackless train will cost around $100,000.
ccording to Park Services and Events Manager Chad Dallman, the city will get funding for the train from a private vendor through the Oshkosh Community Foundation.
The train was set to close in January 2025, citing a lack of sustainable funding. The goal is to debut the new train this summer.
