KESHENA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — With dangerously low temperatures expected Friday and Saturday, the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin is opening warming shelters for those in need.
On Friday and Saturday, highs will be below zero with wind chills as low as -40 in the morning.
On both days, the following warming shelters will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Keshena: FACE Center
- Middle Village: Maehnowesekiyah
- Neopit: Tribal School
- Zoar: Ceremonial Building
- South Branch: Community Center
Limited overnight accommodations will also be available at Eagle’s Nest in Neopit, which include warm beds, showers and kitchen access.
To reserve a spot, call (715) 756 2576. You will need your Tribal ID at check in. You must check in daily by 6 p.m. and depart by 9 a.m.
Other communities such as Neenah are providing warming shelters during the cold snap.
