APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton taxpayers will be asked to approve an operational referendum in April.
On Monday night, the Appleton Area School District’s school board unanimously approved moving forward with a $60 million referendum. It would be for $15 million every year, starting in the 2026-27 school year and ending in the 2029-30 school year.
The referendum would support operational expenses for additional services for students with mental health needs and students experiencing poverty.
Results of a survey conducted last month showed 60% of community members approved the referendum.
