OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The victim in an Oshkosh shooting on January 5 has died from their gunshot wound sustained in the incident.
Police say they are now referring first degree intentional homicide charges against the 32-year-old Oshkosh man in custody.
The shooting happened Monday shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the 700 block of W. 9th Avenue.
Police say the suspect entered the Oshkosh Police Department and told staff that he had just shot someone inside a residence. Officers immediately responded to the home and discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Friday, the victim had died.
The suspect and victim knew each other and this was an isolated incident, according to police.
The suspect was originally booked into jail on recommended charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and possession of methamphetamine.
