ONEIDA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Oneida ESC Group has announced the appointment of Matt Kunstman as its interim president and chief executive officer, effective January 5.
The move comes after the group canceled a $3.9 million contract last week to work with the federal government on construction of ICE facilities, following backlash from tribal leaders.
Kunstman has helped serve Oneida Nation for more than 30 years, including 17 years with Oneida ESC and Oneida Total Integrated Enterprises.
Prior to joining Oneida ESC, he worked in the economic development division with the Oneida Nation.
“I am honored to be named Interim President/CEO and grateful for the trust placed in me,” Kunstman said. “OESC Group is strong because of its dedicated employees and valued clients, and I look forward to continuing our success while supporting our team mission.”
Oneida ESC says Kunstman will help guide the group through its next chapter, while maintaining the core values of the Oneida Nation.
