Green Bay Packers
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Packers will be facing a familiar foe Saturday night in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, and while there may be some fans experiencing ticket fatigue as Green Bay prepares to play the same team for the third time this season, it’s clear that bragging rights are on the line.
210 miles separate Lambeau Field in Green Bay from Soldier Field in Chicago. And if you can separate yourself from about $500, you could be inside the Windy City stadium for this weekend’s Packers-Bears game.
Ticket prices are a bit higher than expected for this matchup.
“The Wild Card round is usually a little more soft, but the Bears haven’t had a home playoff game since 2018 and they just won the division for the first time in a long time. So, their fans are rabid. I mean, it’s a little more pricey than normal right now to get in the door. You’re looking at $500 a ticket,” said Travis Loftus with Ticket King Green Bay.
Loftus says online ticket sales started to pick up Sunday night, once game times were announced.
“This is probably the best case scenario that they went to Chicago, as opposed to Philly, just for the close proximity. And being Saturday night, that’s definitely a lot better than a Sunday night or a Monday night.”
The Saturday night contest is leading to schedule changes for some local restaurants and teams, such as the Green Bay Gamblers.
Originally slated to play at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, the Gamblers asked the USHL if they could move their game against the Fargo Force up a few hours to accommodate the Packers’ 7 p.m. kickoff.
“There are things that come up in the league over the course of a year. Many times, it could be a snowstorm or things have to be canceled. So, it’s fairly routine, but still something that we have to ask permission for. And of course, the opposing team also has to okay it. So, in this case, all of the cards have come together and we will move up the face time,” said Terry Charles with PMI Entertainment.
Not only will the puck drop at 3:05 p.m. now, but the postgame skate with the Gamblers is being canceled.
Charles added, “We just wanna let people, if they wanna leave after the game and watch the Packers game, to go ahead and do that.”
The Black Otter Supper Club in Hortonville is also changing its hours for the game. It’s opening one hour early and closing early as well — serving from 2-7 p.m.
