MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) United Piston Ring is closing its Manitowoc plant, putting 60 people out of work, according to a notice filed with the state.
Layoffs at the 2920 Fairmont St. plant will start March 6 and are expected to be done by June 30.
“We understand that this action will have a significant impact on our employees and their families, and we are committed to providing assistance during this transition to include: Severance pay that extends beyond the plant closure. Transition support services via career fairs to engage local Manitowoc businesses,” wrote Kazutoshi Ueda, president.
The company cites, “Restructuring of UPR’s manufacturing footprint and capacity,” as the reason.
