GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Former Green Bay East High School football coach Niko Sila has decided against a campaign for school board.
Sila says he will be focusing on his youth mentoring program.
Sila was fired last year, with the school district citing intentionally falsifying student attendance records and unauthorized transportation of students. Sila was also the school’s manager of engagement, attendance and advocacy.
On the night he was fired by a 5-2 vote of the school board, Sila announced plans to run for a seat on the board.
Sila, his wife and people representing him consistently stated most of the allegations against him were either untrue or taken out of context.
An open records request last month revealed 55 allegations the school district confronted Sila with. Many of them have to do with undermining staff and administration, which was not a reason the district provided for Sila’s termination, but a summary investigation shows the district determined “there is no indication that the concerns brought forward from the Complainants are not accurate or valid.”
