And it seemed everything was good to go for Tuesday's election, until Friday evening. At that point, it was announced that Democrats had successfully petitioned to establish a new early voting location, where people could cast ballots on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.
This polling location has been placed in what is traditionally a highly-Democrat area.
Democrats argued that voters in a certain neighborhood would be 'disenfranchised' if this location was not established.
However, that is not true. There have been/are opportunities for these voters to cast their ballots either via mail or in-person. Nobody is being disenfranchised, as these Democrats allege. There's no evidence that the deck was being stacked in a partisan manner against any voter/party.
Rather, it seems that Democrats' move is totally partisan. The creation of this new voting place comes as statistics show that a larger percentage of district Republicans had returned their ballots than the percentage of district Democrats who had returned their ballots.
The polling locations should be established well ahead of time. There should not be such confusion interjected into the election just a few days prior to the day of the election.
It seems totally inappropriate to only needlessly establish a new polling location in an area that traditionally heavily favors one party and not also one in an area that similarly favors each party on the ballot.
No party should be seeking an unfair advantage in our elections. We should all ensure that our elections are free and fair, regardless of which party/candidates might benefit from a free and fair election.
But in CA-25, it seems that this pro-Democrat decision was entirely dictated by partisan politics.
It's similar to Wisconsin Democrat Governor Tony Evers' failed attempt to reverse course on his calls to keep the state's April 7 election as scheduled, which came only once Evers learned that absentee ballot return figures did not look favorable for his desired candidate in a state Supreme Court race.
What's more important than who wins or loses our elections is that our elections are free and fair. Shame on anyone, regardless of his/her politics, who tries to compromise the integrity of our elections. In this case, it's California Democrats.
The people of CA-25 deserve to select their next representative, regardless of who that person might be/the politics of that person. Sadly, Democrats are now playing politics with that election.
This concept of Democrats working to gain unfair/unlawful advantages in elections has become a theme in recent years. It cannot be tolerated. Those responsible for any corrupt/criminalistic behavior must be held to full and proper account for their actions.
Our elections must remain sacred for us to have any legitimacy to our nation, which is something that all of us should want. If you don't want the legitimacy of our nation to be preserved, it shows you have no true love for this country.
