WAUWATOSA, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network-WSAU) – A Milwaukee area restaurant owner says he will reopen his business on May 1st, despite the statewide ‘Safer at Home’ order.
Dan Zierath owns Jackson’s Blue Ribbon Pub in Wauwatosa. “I’ve had about 60 to 70 percent of my employees reach out to me and tell me that they are willing to work. And if you’re not by all means. Customers as well… if you want to stay at home my God, this is America, stay at home.”
He says he’ll limit the number of people in his dining area, and will practice social distancing. He also says hand sanitizer will be available as customers enter and exit. Zierath owns three other pubs that will remain closed for now.
“For the people that are tired of it and wanna come out and have a meal by me, please do. You have that right,” Zierath said.
The Wisconsin Tavern League has also been working on guidelines to allow members of open before the current ‘Safer at Home” order expires on May 26th. It was extended from April 24 last week.
Wauwatosa police have said that if a business opens, the department will address the specific situation at that time.
