MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network-WSAU) — Governor Tony Evers says his office will be quickly moving to try to get some sort of order back in place after his Safer At Home rules were struck down by the State Supreme Court on Wednesday.
Evers expressed frustration over the fact that the Republicans who brought this lawsuit have nothing to replace it. “They have thrown the state into chaos. They have provided no plan. There’s no question among anybody that people are going to get sick. We presently lead the Midwest in having the fewest cases per capita. Republicans own that chaos.”
The GOP requested a six day cooling off period to negotiate new COVID-19 rules with the Department of Health Services. Evers said there were no substantive talks while awaiting the court’s ruling. “There’s no 6 days, the Republicans have never had a plan and so we are at this point in time a state with with no expectations as it relates to this virus.”
Evers said his office would have a new scope statement on handling COVID-19 by Thursday morning. The GOP says it will also have a reopening proposal in the next 24 hours.
