(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) ANGOLA, Ind. – In a battle of Top 10 teams, St. Norbert College roared back from a big hole to post a 4-3 overtime win over Trine University at Thunder Ice Arena.
The Green Knights (9-3, 6-1 NCHA), ranked No. 4 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, trailed 3-0 late in the second period before charging back to stun the Thunder (5-3-1, 4-2-1), which is ranked No. 10. The victory matched the largest deficit erased en route to a win in the 32-season era of coach Tim Coghlin, matching a 7-6 overtime win after trailing 6-3 in the third period at Lake Forest College on Jan. 14, 2022.
Logan Dombrowsky (pictured) emerged from a 2-on-2 situation along the boards and deftly maneuvered into the near slot, where he cleanly beat Trine goaltender Kyle Kozma just 25 seconds into the 3-on-3 overtime period to cap a wild comeback.
Following a scoreless first period, Trine took the lead just 1:01 into the second period on a Sam Antenucci goal. The Thunder added to its lead when Michael DiPietra scored at 14:12. Trine pushed ahead further, scoring just 43 seconds later when Jack Cooper put the host ahead 3-0. The Green Knights would get some momentum back before second intermission when Gustav Portillo scored at 17:31 for a 3-1 deficit after 40 minutes.
St. Norbert continued the pressure when Ethan Byrne brought the Green Knights to within 3-2 at the 2:22 mark of the third period. Jack Seaverson then tied things up with a shot through traffic to knot things up at the 16:11 mark. St. Norbert held off a late Trine flurry in the final 30 seconds of regulation to force overtime.
Braden Lindstrom then won the faceoff to open overtime, with the Green Knights controlling the puck leading up to Dombrowsky’s game-winning goal.
Seaverson had the Green Knights’ lone multi-point game, scoring one goal and one assist for two points.
Trine outshot St. Norbert 33-32. Hunter Garvey made 30 saves for the Green Knights, while Kozma made 29 stops for the Thunder.
Both teams were 0-for-1 on the power play.

The Green Knights got goals from Abby Pieper and Annalee Holzer in the first period and went on to defeat Trine.
Ava Anick assisted on Pieper’s goal with Annie Sanders got the assist on Holzer’s goal.
St. Norbert outshot Trine 40-18.
Anna Kindseth had 38 saves for Trine.
Keira Markell had 18 saves for SNC.
