OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The city of Oshkosh and its humane society will continue working hand-in-hand, thanks to a renewed partnership agreement.
Officials announced the news Thursday, saying it reflects a shared commitment to providing care and services to stray domesticated animals found in Oshkosh.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the City of Oshkosh and look forward to continuing our strong partnership. The Oshkosh Area Humane Society will continue delivering the exceptional, high-quality care and service that the animals — and the community we serve — deserve,” said OAHS Executive Director Ieva Engel in a news release.
The agreement spans from Jan. 1, 2026, to Dec. 31, 2028. A $50,000 fee will be paid to provide care to the first 500 animals serviced in the calendar year. Additionally, the agreement provides funding for subsequent animals over the initial 500, as outlined in the fee structure which is consistent with the approved budget amount.
“We appreciate the great relationship we have with the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. I’m excited that this agreement has been reached, and the City is poised to continuing to work with the Humane Society for years to come,” said Oshkosh Police Chief Dean Smith in the release.
The Common Council will consider the agreement at its Dec. 9 meeting.
