The World Dairy Expo Executive Committee finalized the decision based on the public health orders and restrictions due to the coronavirus. These restrictions were put in place by Public Health Madison & Dane County. The expo was scheduled to be at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison September 29th through October 3rd. Normally the event brought over 62,000 people to Madison for the week.
“Our collective heart is heavy as we share with you that World Dairy Expo 2020 has been canceled,” said Scott Bentley, who is the World Dairy Expo General Manager. “We know how much this hurts; we feel it, too. Please know other options were explored and considered by the World Dairy Expo Executive Committee and staff.”
The Alliant Energy Center is owned by Dane County and is under the jurisdiction of Emergency Order #3, which is part of the phased reopening plan for the county. They believe that by the time the expo was to take place, they might be in the third phase of the plan. In this phase, there are still some restrictions. One of those restrictions being a limit of 250 at outdoor events. This clearly wouldn’t be possible if the World Dairy Expo would go on as planned.
The 2021 World Dairy Expo will be held September 28th through October 2nd, 2021 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
