GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A large donation of diapers are making a difference in Northeast Wisconsin.
After learning Family and Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin was canceling its free diaper distribution events due to cuts in funding, Brown County United Way and Proctor & Gamble donated more than 20,000 diapers to the organization Wednesday.
“Again, there’s a big diaper shortage, diapers are very expensive for families so when you have low-income families trying to make ends meet, being able to get some extra diapers is really huge help for them,” said executive director of Family and Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin, Paula Breese.
Breese tells FOX 11 the timing of the delivery of these diapers works out great after the organization experienced a loss of funding for its monthly community event.
The diapers were collected from the Brown County United Way’s annual diaper drive it holds each September. In total, the drive collected 61,010 diapers.
Family and Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin will distribute 30,505 diapers, with the remaining diapers going to other Brown County agencies that provide diapers to families in need.
