OCONTO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — After firefighters found four people dead in an Oconto home, people in the small community are gathering to help and to heal.
The victims have been identified as Katherine DeCoursin, 35, and her children, Jeri Schroeder, 15, Dalton Schroeder, 13, and Nicholas DeCoursin Jr., 11.
Tracey Bostedt knew them. She’s putting together a benefit for that family.
“I was reached out by some family members of hers which I grew up with when I was a child,” she explained.
That overnight fire in the 900 block of Fabry Street on Friday took hours to extinguish. Firefighters found the bodies after entering the building. While they haven’t been identified, the Oconto School District posted on Facebook that students would have access to counseling services related to the fire.
Bostedt has a message for the family.
“We don’t want you to have to worry about having the burden about having to pay for this so we want to help out any way we can,’ said Bostedt.
The benefit will be at Crivello’s bar and restaurant in Oconto on March 28, from noon to 5 p.m. It will feature raffles and opportunities to donate.
