KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Kaukauna school district has whittled the potential names of its new middle school down to four.
District leaders say they took suggestions between Oct. 28 and Nov. 16. They received 255 responses.
Administrators will ask the school board to approve these finalists:
- Electric City Middle School
- Kaukauna Middle School
- River View Middle School
- Sheldon Niquette Middle School
Once finalist names are approved, two public hearings will be held to allow the community to give its feedback.
Those hearings are expected to be held in the district office board room on:
- Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
- Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
Following the Jan. 12 public hearing, the board is expected to vote on the name.
The $169.2 million project to build the new middle school was approved in a referendum last year. The school will be located just southwest of the current high school. Construction is expected to last until June 2028.
