PLAINFIELD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Tri-County School District says a benefit will be held later this month for one of its students who tragically died in a crash.
The benefit for 6-year-old Maryana Kranz will be Saturday, Feb. 29 at Ponderosa Pines in Bancroft, north of Plainfield.
Food, raffle baskets and a bake sale will help raise money to assist Maryana’s family.
Those who attend the benefit are asked to wear the color green, as that was her favorite color.
Ponderosa Pines says it will also donate 10% of all its food sales Friday to the family.
Maryana died Monday morning after she was hit by a car while she was boarding a school bus.
Her four-year-old sister was also hit, but suffered minor injuries.
Officials say the bus was stopped, and had its flashers on.
The driver of the pick-up truck, heading in the same direction, came up on the right side of the bus, hitting the girls.
Witnesses say there was snow on the sides of the road, and conditions were foggy at the time of the crash.
For those who wish to make private donations to Maryana’s family, they can make checks payable to “Maryana Kranz Family Benefit” and send them to:
Portage County Bank, Plainfield Branch, PO BOX 490, Plainfield, WI 54966.
