APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A group in Appleton served up some support for the area’s tennis courts.
M.A.T.C.H. (Making Appleton Tennis Courts Happen) presented the city of Appleton a check for more than $14,000 Tuesday as part of its on-going effort to preserve and add more tennis courts in city parks.
The non-profit’s goal is to ensure Appleton’s neighborhood park tennis courts remain in good playing condition so residents of all ages can enjoy the game.
This year, the city of Appleton plans to add new tennis courts to Hoover, Derks and Vosters parks and create a pickle ball court.
Dean Gazza, director of Appleton Parks, Recreation and Facilities Management, tells FOX 11 this would not be possible without the support of community non-profits.
“I think in Appleton, the community is much more engaged and we’re always listening to the community and we always welcome to come in and help us identify what they feel are the greatest needs and then we act upon that during the budget process.”
By the end of the year, the city of Appleton will have 20 tennis courts and one pickle ball court.
