APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Walter Goodman, one of the four arrested in an Outagamie County child neglect case, appeared in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing that was then delayed.
Goodman’s counsel was granted a request to push the preliminary hearing to Jan. 5, citing the need for more time to advise their client on the case.
Goodman is facing multiple charges of child neglect in the case of his 14-year-old daughter who was close to death and weighed 35 pounds.
The criminal complaint says that Goodman called 911 in August to report his daughter was lethargic, moaning, and almost comatose.
Another suspect, Kayla Stemler, had a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. However, an attorney has not been appointed for her yet, so her hearing was rescheduled to Dec. 2.
The other two suspects – Melissa Goodman and Savanna Lefever – have preliminary hearings scheduled for Thursday. As with Stemler, however, court records do not list any attorneys for her.
