GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich says he’d like to see a mail-in election on April 7th.
“Speaking for Green Bay, we will be unable to administer a normal election,” Genrich wrote on Twitter. “The Governor and legislature need to act fast to allow us to have the election in a safe and responsible way: through the mail.”
April 7th is when all of Wisconsin can vote in the Spring Election and Presidential Preference Primary.
When asked on Monday, Evers said he has no plans of delaying the election, despite concerns about the coronavirus.
Through a press release issued late Tuesday afternoon, the city announced city hall will be closed to in-person visits from the public until further notice.
Voting in the city clerk’s office for the election was scheduled to start Monday March 23rd and last through Friday, April 3rd.
Voter registration through the mail or online ends Wednesday, March 18th.
The state Elections Commission put out a notice Friday recommending people use absentee ballots rather than voting at the polls on election day.
