ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ) — A second reported sighting of a man impersonating a police officer, conducting fake “Safer at Home Compliance Checks”, was itself fake, the Brown County Sheriff’s Department says.
After taking a report on Tuesday of a man in a dark colored Chevy Impala pulling over a woman in the southern part of Brown County and conducting a phony “compliance check”, Deputies say a second report was recieved at an Allouez Gas station.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Department posted on Facebook that they now believe that report was false.
“People, these are chaotic enough times! Our societal norms are being challenged, our health and safety is being compromised, people are afraid…for anyone to take advantage of our current climate to instigate even more fear is incredibly disheartening!” the department wrote.
Deputies are still investigating the first report.
