NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The city of Neenah is making sure poll workers will be protected during the spring election next week.
City staff designed and crafted 26 plexiglass shields to place in front of each poll worker to provide a physical barrier between voters and poll workers.
The shields can also turn 360 degrees to protect poll workers from all angles.
“As it appears the election will go on as planned for April 7, we continue to make every effort to lessen any potential exposure during face-to-face interactions in order to provide as much of a sense of security for both, the poll worker and voter, as possible,” Mayor Dean Kaufert said.
He also says they may have disposable styluses so voters do not have to share.
Despite groups wanting the election to be postponed due to COVID-19, Gov. Tony Evers says the April 7 will go on as planned. He’s also strongly encouraged Wisconsin residents to vote absentee.
